Aretha is the first Black Latin American woman to reach the summit of Everest—the top of the world. The journey of a woman who came from the outskirts of Campinas and used waste recycling to fund her climb offers much more than moments of tension on the mountain: it is a portrait of the challenges faced daily by Black women in society.
